I provide Guardian ad Litem services in family law cases where the court needs someone to focus only on the best interests of a child. In these cases, I do not represent either parent. I focus only on the child’s safety, stability, and overall well-being and make recommendations to the court on those issues.

I am an attorney licensed in both Virginia and Florida with more than thirty years of experience in family law. Over the years, I have worked with hundreds of families facing custody disputes, divorce, and other sensitive family matters involving children. My role as a Guardian ad Litem in Florida cases is to give the court a clear, neutral view of the child’s situation.

What a Guardian ad Litem Does ?

A Guardian ad Litem is appointed by the court to the child’s life and family and make recommendations to the court. This role is not about taking sides. It is about gathering information and sharing what is best for the child. 

I will speak with parents, caregivers, teachers, and the child. I may also review school records, medical reports, and other important documents.

After reviewing everything, I provide the court with a report and recommendations focused only on the best interests of the child.

Guardian ad Litem Work in Central Florida

Much of my work is as a Guardian ad Litem in Orlando and the surrounding counties. But I am not limited to Guardian ad Litem cases in Orlando and will travel when necessary to assist a family with a case.

How I Handle Each Case

Every case is different. Some cases require more time and review. Others are more straightforward. I always take time to understand the needs of the child and the environment they are living in before making any recommendations. After talking with the parties and their witnesses, I focus on facts, not emotions or conflict between adults because children should not feel caught in the middle of adult disagreements.

My goal is to make sure the court has accurate information about the child’s life and needs.

What I Look At in a Case

In each Guardian ad Litem case, I may:

• Meet with parents and caregivers
• Speak with teachers or professionals
• Review school and medical records
• Observe the child’s living situation
• Talk with the child when age appropriate
  

All of this information helps create a full understanding of the child’s environment.

Alongside my guardian ad litem services, I have more than three decades of experience in family law. This experience helps me use my knowledge of how family conflict affects children to create recommendations that will keep that conflict away from the child.
